Funki in adapted school
Last week, a set of Funki instruments was delivered to Dibber Rullen, a special needs school in Solna for students who follow a curriculum based on subject areas.
Rullen and Funki have a long history together. Students, teachers and teaching assistants have all been involved in developing the instruments since the very first prototype was created in 2019. Now, we are continuing our collaboration, exploring how the instruments can be adapted and how sounds and soundscapes can be matched with learning across the different subject areas.
The first sound sets being tested include animals, nature and music from different parts of the world, such as South America, Greenland and Australia. There are also sounds that correspond to the story of The Three Little Pigs, allowing students to read and listen at the same time to support understanding and participation.
One sound set is filled with cheers and applause, enabling students to cheer each other on as part of the theme “Play and Learn”.
It already feels incredibly exciting to work together to create the best possible conditions for learning, participation and development within the subject areas of the adapted school curriculum.
